The Power of a Thoughtful “No”

Last night I was exhausted.

There has been a lot going on personally and globally.

I felt like I had run a marathon with being a mom, a wife, a business owner, neighbor, and being a human.

All I wanted to do was climb into bed and read my book.

So my heart sank when one of my people needed help with something.

Normally I would have said yes, but this time I realized how important it was for me to check in with me: my energy, my band width, my nervous system.

I loving told my person I would be happy to do the thing in the morning, climbed into bed, read my book, and got a great night sleep.

I woke up feeling rested, helped with the thing, and all was well.

Saying no is a beautiful form of self care my friend.

Let me leave you with one of my favorite thoughts:

DON'T SET YOURSELF ON FIRE IN ORDER TO KEEP OTHER PEOPLE WARM.
